Newest Ravinia Heights Homes For Sale

$487,500
3 Beds 1 Baths 21370016 MLS
There’s a certain magic to Ravinia Heights, the kind that makes you forget you’re in Dallas at all. Available for sale for the first time in more than 20 years, this character-rich three-bedroom home is tucked beneath mature trees and surrounded by lush greenery, feeling wonderfully removed from the city while keeping Oak Cliff and Downtown Dallas remarkably close. And its architectural story may be just as interesting as its setting. Preservation Dallas has previously identified the home as a possible Charles Dilbeck design. At the very least, its character and architectural details are distinctly Dilbeck-inspired, giving the home a sense of place that feels anything but ordinary. Inside, original hardwood floors, dark-trimmed windows and doors, built-ins, and a statement fireplace carry that personality throughout. The gracious living room flows into the dining area, while a sun-filled sunroom wrapped in windows creates an unexpected retreat overlooking the backyard. Two bedrooms sit privately to one side of the home, along with the full bath. Above the attached garage, a third bedroom offers valuable flexibility as a guest room, home office, studio, or creative space. And then there’s the backyard. A wood deck steps into a private green escape framed by exceptionally tall bamboo, held back by a custom-made fence. Beyond its dramatic beauty, the bamboo creates a natural sound buffer and gives the yard an enveloping sense of privacy, equally suited to slow mornings, dinner outside, or simply disappearing into your own little corner of Dallas. An attached one-car garage is joined by an adjacent laundry room and EV charger. There is also a Generac rounding out a home that balances original character with the practical details of modern life. Distinctive, comfortable, and refreshingly unlike the expected, this is a home with a story worth discovering.

Ravinia Heights – Historic Beauty and Hidden Hills in Oak Cliff

Tucked just south of I-30 in North Oak Cliff, Ravinia Heights is one of Dallas’ most secluded and scenic residential enclaves. With only around 150 homes, this quiet, tree-shaded neighborhood offers a peaceful retreat filled with rich history, architectural charm, and rolling topography that surprises first-time visitors.

Established in the early 1920s by developer Claude Cain, Ravinia Heights was built on farmland originally owned by Eli Sanger of the famed Sanger Brothers Department Store. Cain’s first project on the land was a private estate named “Ravinia”, built in 1914 at 2918 W. Jefferson Blvd. on more than seven wooded acres. He later developed the surrounding neighborhood, naming many of the streets after his children. The original Ravinia estate remained vacant for many years, becoming a source of local folklore and ghost stories—until it was restored by Sarah Seay Campbell in the 1990s.

Architecture and Atmosphere

Ravinia Heights is known for its eclectic mix of architectural styles and its natural setting that mirrors the feel of Dallas’ more famous Bluffview neighborhood. Here, you’ll find Tudor cottages, Spanish Revival stucco homes, Craftsman bungalows, and mid-century modern ranches tucked among the trees, winding roads, and hills. The neighborhood’s elevated terrain, creeks, and deep lots create a lush, storybook setting that feels far removed from the city—despite being just minutes from downtown.

Unlike many urban neighborhoods, Ravinia Heights has retained its original charm and sense of privacy. Homes are well-maintained, and the peaceful environment is enhanced by the neighborhood’s secluded layout and minimal through-traffic.

A Quiet Gem in Oak Cliff

With its limited number of homes and long-standing pride of ownership, Ravinia Heights has remained one of Oak Cliff’s best-kept secrets. While many neighborhoods south of I-30 are becoming more widely recognized, Ravinia continues to fly just under the radar—appealing to those who appreciate classic architecture, quiet streets, and a natural setting within the city.

The community is bordered by West Jefferson Boulevard and lies in close proximity to Kessler Park, the Bishop Arts District, and Downtown Dallas. Its location offers a perfect balance between tranquil residential living and quick access to shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Whether you’re drawn by the history, the architectural beauty, or the peaceful surroundings, Ravinia Heights offers a unique slice of Dallas living that blends timeless design with natural serenity.
